Microsoft Adaptive Accessories Product Page Launch

Project Type

Digital Marketing Campaign for Product Launch.

Overview:
As a Creative Project Manager, I led the development and execution of a product detail page (PDP) for Microsoft’s Adaptive Accessories on Microsoft.com. My role was crucial in shaping how these accessibility-focused solutions were introduced to customers online. By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring accessibility compliance, and crafting user-centric narratives, I helped create a PDP that effectively communicated the product’s value, purpose, and usability.

The Challenge:
The Adaptive Accessories product line empowers individuals with diverse physical needs to interact with technology more seamlessly. Yet the challenge lay in translating technical features and inclusive design principles into a clear, relatable story on Microsoft.com. Our goal was to create a PDP that not only informed but inspired—one that would resonate equally with users new to assistive technology and those well-versed in accessibility solutions.

My Role:
- Content Strategy & Messaging Alignment:
Working closely with product teams, writers, and accessibility experts, I guided the messaging strategy. This meant shifting from purely technical descriptions to human-centered narratives, highlighting how the accessories positively impact real-world scenarios.

- Cross-Functional Coordination:
I managed the project timeline, facilitated regular team stand-ups, and maintained open communication channels among designers, developers, content strategists, and QA specialists. This ensured cohesive delivery and alignment on brand standards, accessibility guidelines, and launch timelines.

- Accessibility & Quality Assurance:
Partnering with internal accessibility consultants, I oversaw compliance checks, ensuring that headings, alt text, keyboard navigation, and other elements met or exceeded WCAG standards. Through iterative testing and refinement, we delivered a PDP accessible to all users.

- Stakeholder Communication:
I kept senior leadership and key stakeholders informed with status reports, mockups, and feedback sessions. Integrating their input early in the process allowed for timely pivots, ensuring the final PDP reflected both the brand vision and user needs.

Process Highlights:
- Iterative Prototyping:
We started with wireframes and prototypes to experiment with information hierarchy and visual design. Leveraging user research feedback, we refined these layouts to highlight product benefits, compatibility details, and assistive scenarios front and center.

- Inclusive Storytelling:
Selecting imagery and video content that showed real users interacting with the devices helped visitors quickly grasp the accessories’ purpose. By placing human stories at the forefront, we connected product features to genuine user experiences.

- Clear Information Architecture:
The final PDP organized information into intuitive sections—overviews, FAQs, compatibility notes, and direct calls-to-action—ensuring that visitors could easily find what they needed and take the next step.

Results:
- Improved User Engagement:
The thoughtful blend of storytelling, accessibility, and straightforward navigation encouraged visitors to spend more time exploring the PDP and better understand the Adaptive Accessories’ benefits.

- Enhanced Brand Credibility & Trust:
By presenting these accessibility solutions in a user-friendly and inclusive manner, we reinforced Microsoft’s reputation as a leader in creating technology that empowers everyone.

- Positive Internal Feedback:
Teams and stakeholders appreciated the smooth coordination, clear communication, and timely delivery. This success bolstered confidence in our processes and set a strong precedent for future accessibility-driven projects.

Key Takeaways:
This project demonstrated the power of empathetic storytelling, stringent accessibility standards, and well-orchestrated collaboration. By blending these elements, we created a PDP on Microsoft.com that not only detailed the Adaptive Accessories’ technical merits but also showcased their meaningful impact, ultimately supporting Microsoft’s mission to make technology more inclusive and empowering for all.
